By 2022, the hypnosis app had become a premise readers greeted as a familiar formula. Saimin Tengoku stands in the hall as a long-form work that carries that formula on the sheer density of its drawing.
At a former girls' school that has only just gone co-ed, a boy who has spent his days as almost the only male student, and been made to feel it, gets hold of a hypnosis app and sets about bending to his will the women of the school who looked down on him. It is an adult work in the hypnosis and harem genres, set in a school. One might read the spread of this premise, which skips courtship and opens directly on a relationship, against the tastes of its moment.
Most readers grant that the subject follows a well-worn pattern, then locate the reason it holds them in the artist's draughtsmanship. Their comments converge on how tightly the pages are packed: compositions and panel layouts leave no slack, and each page carries a heavy load. The hypnosis plot reaches a first resolution in the third chapter, after which the cast widens and the story turns into an ensemble. With extra chapters added to the main serial, it is a linked series that closes within a single volume.
Eight years after the debut, Fukuhachima Naoto, who had worked mainly with Core Magazine, serialized this story in Bunendo's COMIC BAVEL, and it became the first book the artist published with that house.
The print edition and the digital releases followed one another through the autumn and winter of 2022. It ranks 209th among the hall's commercial works.
